Though one of the biggest models in her time, Lauren Hutton is hardly defined by her talent in front of the camera alone. A wild one, a wanderer, a feminist, renegade, a legend. Hutton is known to be "fiercely intelligent and vocal about [her] independence in an era when women weren’t expected to be either."* It's refreshing to watch a woman comfortable in her own skin. A woman who embraces her quirks -- though at the onset of her career Hutton did try to cover her now signature tooth gap with morticians wax, lucky for us it didn't take. "Lauren is anything but a classical beauty. Her nose flies west, her mouth flies north, she can cross her left eye at will. She made herself beautiful by learning, watching, willing—not by surgically altering her defects."* It's just that wild beauty, coupled with her signature borrowed-from-the-boys style: think classic American sportswear, relaxed blazers, slick trousers, denim, sensible shoes and the occasionally well placed hat, that make us love her.
